Diclofenac Sodium Injection is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used for the rapid relief of pain and inflammation in various acute and chronic conditions.
Each 1 mL typically contains:
Diclofenac Sodium 25 mg or 75 mg, depending on brand and formulation.
Available in 1 mL or 3 mL ampoules.
Acute musculoskeletal pain
Post-operative pain
Renal colic
Post-traumatic pain
Dysmenorrhea
Gout
Fever (only when other antipyretics are unsuitable)
Adults:
Single dose: 75 mg via deep intramuscular injection (usually gluteal region)
Maximum daily dose: 150 mg (e.g. two injections of 75 mg, spaced apart)
Children:
Not routinely recommended in children under 12 years unless specifically advised by a doctor.
Inject intravenously unless specifically formulated for IV use (IV Diclofenac exists but is different).
Inject subcutaneously (can cause local tissue irritation).
Store at room temperature (1525C)
Protect from light
Do not freeze
Contraindicated in:
History of peptic ulcers, GI bleeding
NSAID allergy, asthma triggered by NSAIDs
Severe liver or kidney impairment
Heart failure or cardiovascular disease
Use with caution in elderly and dehydrated patients.
Common:
Pain or swelling at injection site
Nausea
Heartburn
Serious (though rare):
GI bleeding or ulcers
Liver toxicity
Renal impairment
Cardiovascular events (long-term use)
