🉠Diclofenac Sodium Injection

Diclofenac Sodium Injection is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used for the rapid relief of pain and inflammation in various acute and chronic conditions.

🔠Composition:

• Each 1 mL typically contains:

  • Diclofenac Sodium 25 mg or 75 mg, depending on brand and formulation.

  • Available in 1 mL or 3 mL ampoules.

… Indications:

• Acute musculoskeletal pain

• Post-operative pain

• Renal colic

• Post-traumatic pain

• Dysmenorrhea

• Gout

• Fever (only when other antipyretics are unsuitable)

🉠Dosage & Administration:

• Adults:

  • Single dose: 75 mg via deep intramuscular injection (usually gluteal region)

  • Maximum daily dose: 150 mg (e.g. two injections of 75 mg, spaced apart)

• Children:

  • Not routinely recommended in children under 12 years unless specifically advised by a doctor.

🚫 DO NOT:

• Inject intravenously unless specifically formulated for IV use (IV Diclofenac exists but is different).

• Inject subcutaneously (can cause local tissue irritation).

• Store at room temperature (15“25C)

• Protect from light

• Do not freeze

šï Precautions & Warnings:

• Contraindicated in:

  • History of peptic ulcers, GI bleeding

  • NSAID allergy, asthma triggered by NSAIDs

  • Severe liver or kidney impairment

  • Heart failure or cardiovascular disease

• Use with caution in elderly and dehydrated patients.

🪠Side Effects:

• Common:

  • Pain or swelling at injection site

  • Nausea

  • Heartburn

• Serious (though rare):

  • GI bleeding or ulcers

  • Liver toxicity

  • Renal impairment

  • Cardiovascular events (long-term use)
