About Febuxostat Tablets 40mg

Febuxostat is a medication used to lower uric acid levels in the blood. It is primarily prescribed for gout and hyperuricemia to prevent gout attacks and complications.

Composition (per tablet):

Uses / Indications:

• Chronic gout

• Hyperuricemia (high uric acid levels)

• Prevention of uric acid nephropathy

• Management of tophi in gout patients

Dosage & Administration:

• Typical starting dose: 40 mg once daily

• Dose may be increased to 80 mg daily based on serum uric acid levels and physician advice

• Take with or without food

• Maintain adequate hydration to prevent kidney stones

• Monitor serum uric acid regularly during treatment

Precautions:

• Use with caution in patients with liver or kidney impairment

• Not recommended during pregnancy and lactation unless necessary

• Monitor for cardiovascular risk factors (history of heart disease)

• Avoid use in patients with severe renal impairment unless advised by physician

• May increase risk of hypersensitivity reactions

• Azathioprine or mercaptopurine: avoid concomitant use due to toxicity risk
