Product Description

Ofloxacin Tablets 200 mg is a broad-spectrum antibacterial agent belonging to the fluoroquinolone class. It is used for the treatment of a wide range of infections caused by susceptible gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.

Ofloxacin is a synthetic fluoroquinolone antibiotic that exerts its bactericidal action by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination. This inhibition leads to the disruption of bacterial cell division and ultimately causes cell death.

Ofloxacin is well absorbed orally, with high bioavailability. Peak plasma concentrations are usually achieved within 1ï2 hours after administration. It is widely distributed in body tissues and fluids and is primarily excreted unchanged in the urine.

Each film-coated tablet contains:

• Ofloxacin IP ï 200 mg

Indications include:

• Respiratory tract infections (e.g., bronchitis, pneumonia)

• Urinary tract infections (UTIs)

• Skin and soft tissue infections

• Gastrointestinal infections (e.g., infectious diarrhea, typhoid fever)

• Sexually transmitted infections (e.g., gonorrhea)

• Prostatitis
