Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces the amount of acid produced in the stomach. The gastro-resistant (enteric-coated) formulation ensures the tablet is not degraded by stomach acid and releases in the intestine.

Usual adult dose: 40 mg once daily, before meals (preferably in the morning)
In severe GERD or erosive esophagitis: May be continued for up to 8 weeks or as advised
Do not crush or chew; swallow whole with water
Onset of action: Within 23 hours
Peak effect: 2.5 hours
Duration of acid suppression: Up to 24 hours
Use with caution in long-term therapy may cause:
Vitamin B12 deficiency
Magnesium deficiency (hypomagnesemia)
Osteoporosis-related fractures
Not intended for immediate relief of heartburn
Avoid use if allergic to any PPI
Pregnancy & lactation: Use only if prescribed
