About Tofacitinib Tablets 5mg

Tofacitinib is an oral Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitor used to treat various autoimmune and inflammatory diseases by modulating the immune system response.

Composition (per tablet):

Uses / Indications:

• Rheumatoid arthritis (moderate to severe)

• Psoriatic arthritis

• Ankylosing spondylitis

• Ulcerative colitis (moderate to severe)

• Other autoimmune disorders as prescribed

Dosage & Administration:

• Typical dose: 5 mg twice daily or as directed by physician

• Can be taken with or without food

• Swallow whole with water

• Regular monitoring required (blood counts, liver function, lipids) during treatment

Precautions:

• Increased risk of infections (including serious infections like tuberculosis)

• Avoid live vaccines during treatment

• Use cautiously in patients with liver or kidney impairment

• Monitor for blood clots (venous thromboembolism)

• Not recommended during pregnancy and lactation unless benefits outweigh risks

Possible Side Effects:

Drug Interactions:

• CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole) increase tofacitinib levels

• CYP3A4 inducers (e.g., rifampin) decrease tofacitinib levels

• Avoid live vaccines during treatment

• Caution with immunosuppressants
