Product Description

Ursodeoxycholic Acid Tablets IP contain Ursodeoxycholic Acid (UDCA), a naturally occurring bile acid used primarily for the treatment of certain liver and gallbladder conditions. It is particularly effective in dissolving cholesterol-rich gallstones and improving liver function in various cholestatic liver diseases.

Each film-coated tablet contains:

• Ursodeoxycholic Acid IP ï 150 mg / 300 mg (commonly available strengths)

Mechanism of Action:

Ursodeoxycholic acid reduces the cholesterol content of bile and bile stones by:

• Decreasing hepatic synthesis and secretion of cholesterol

• Inhibiting intestinal absorption of cholesterol

• Dispersing cholesterol into a liquid-crystalline form, which enhances the solubility of gallstones

In cholestatic liver diseases, UDCA helps protect liver cells (hepatocytes) from bile acid-induced damage, stimulates bile flow, and improves liver enzyme levels.

Indications:

• Dissolution of radiolucent (non-calcified) cholesterol gallstones in patients for whom surgery is not an option

• Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC)

• Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (under physician supervision)

• Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and other liver function disorders (off-label in some regions)
