Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used to reduce gastric acid secretion. The injectable form is used when oral administration is not possible, especially in acute care or hospital settings.
Each vial contains:
Pantoprazole Sodium Sesquihydrate equivalent to 40 mg Pantoprazole
Form: Lyophilized powder for reconstitution
Used in the treatment of:
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) with erosive esophagitis
Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome and other hypersecretory conditions
Stress ulcers in critically ill patients
Peptic ulcer disease
Prevention of aspiration pneumonia (in surgical/ICU patients)
Acid suppression before endoscopy for upper GI bleeding
To be administered by healthcare professionals only
Usual Adult Dose:
40 mg once daily via IV injection or IV infusion
For IV Injection (Bolus):
Reconstitute vial with 10 mL of 0.9% Normal Saline
Inject slowly over at least 2 minutes
For IV Infusion:
Reconstitute and dilute in 100 mL of 0.9% Normal Saline or 5% Dextrose
Infuse over 15 minutes
ï Do not use other diluents like Ringers or Sodium Bicarbonate
Typically 7 days or until oral therapy can be resumed
Long-term use may be required in Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome
Known hypersensitivity to Pantoprazole or other PPIs
Caution in hepatic impairment
Not recommended for pediatric use via injection unless prescribed

IV Pantoprazole is bioequivalent to oral formulation, but used only when oral route is not feasible
Do not mix with other drugs in the same syringe or IV line
Switch to oral Pantoprazole 40 mg once the patient can tolerate oral intake
Store vials at 1525C
Protect from light and moisture
Use reconstituted solution immediately, or within 4 hours if refrigerated
