Ofloxacin 200 mg is used to treat:
Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
Respiratory tract infections (e.g., bronchitis, pneumonia)
Gastrointestinal infections (e.g., infectious diarrhea, typhoid fever)
Skin and soft tissue infections
Sexually transmitted infections (e.g., gonorrhea, chlamydia)
Eye and ear infections (in other formulations)
Adults: Usually 200 mg to 400 mg twice daily, depending on the infection
Take with or without food, but preferably with a full glass of water
Course duration: Typically 5ï10 days, or as prescribed
ïï Do not skip doses. Complete the full course even if you feel better.
Inform your doctor before using if you have:
Kidney or liver disease
Epilepsy or history of seizures
Heart rhythm problems (QT prolongation)
Tendon issues or joint problems
You're pregnant or breastfeeding (not usually recommended)
Children under 18 (unless specifically prescribed)
Pregnant or breastfeeding women (unless absolutely necessary)
Patients with a history of tendon rupture or myasthenia gravis
Common:
Nausea
Diarrhea
Headache
Dizziness
Insomnia
Serious (rare but important):
Tendon rupture (especially Achilles tendon)
Seizures
Irregular heartbeat
Severe allergic reaction (rash, swelling, difficulty breathing)
Seek medical help if any serious symptoms occur.
