About Omeprazole & Domperidone Capsules IP

A combination capsule containing:

• Omeprazole: A proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces stomach acid production by blocking the proton pumps in gastric parietal cells.

• Domperidone: A prokinetic and antiemetic agent that increases gastrointestinal motility and helps prevent nausea and vomiting.

This combination is used to treat acid-related gastrointestinal disorders and improve gastric emptying.

Typical Composition (per capsule):

Uses / Indications:

• Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)

• Peptic ulcers (gastric and duodenal)

• Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (acid hypersecretion)

• Dyspepsia (indigestion)

• Prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting related to gastric stasis or delayed gastric emptying

Dosage & Administration:

• Typical dose: 1 capsule twice daily, 15-30 minutes before meals, or as prescribed

• Swallow capsule whole with water

• Avoid crushing or chewing the capsule

Precautions:

• Use cautiously in patients with liver impairment

• Avoid use in patients with known hypersensitivity to either drug

• Caution in patients with cardiac arrhythmias or electrolyte imbalance (due to domperidone)

• Not recommended for long-term use without medical supervision

• Consult a doctor if symptoms persist or worsen

• Not typically recommended during pregnancy and lactation unless prescribed

Possible Side Effects:

Drug Interactions:

• Omeprazole may reduce absorption of drugs dependent on stomach acidity (e.g., ketoconazole)

• Domperidone may increase risk of QT prolongation with certain drugs (e.g., some antifungals, macrolide antibiotics)

• Avoid concomitant use with other medications that prolong QT interval
