Mechanism of Action
Rifaximin A poorly absorbed antibiotic that acts locally in the gut targeting a wide range of grampositive and gramnegative bacteria by inhibiting RNA synthesis
Metronidazole A nitroimidazole antibiotic effective against anaerobic bacteria and protozoa by disrupting DNA synthesis
Dosage Typical
Commonly prescribed as 1 tablet two to three times daily for 510 days depending on the infection
